2024 FISU University World Games

True North aims to follow up on our 2023 EDHEC Sailing Cup title by taking on the FISU Worlds, but we need your help.

How we are preparing.

The 2024 World University Games will be the ultimate test for True North at the university level. Competing against the other top teams from around the world, we aim to show that Canadian youth sailing are among the best. In 2023, the team took home the EDHEC Sailing Cup title, the largest university sailing event in the world, and are eager to follow up on that success.

To prepare for the event, the team has been training in multiple different types of boat, in multiple disciplines, to be ready for whatever format the event chooses.

In February, it was decided that the teams will be racing Dolphin 81, a Lake Garda class, in a fleet racing format. The team will be using the Melges 24 as its training boat, as it is quite comparable to the Dolphin 81.

How you can help us.

As with most events, the main barrier is cost. The team is solely comprised of sailors currently enrolled or 1-year-out of college, leaving the team in search of funding. This is where we need your help.

The estimated cost for the event for the whole team is $12,000 CAD, which includes flights, registration, accommodation and transportation for all 5 athletes.

The team can offer tax-deductible donations through its Wind-Athletes Canada page. Every donation of all sizes is appreciated, and if you are unable to donate, please spread the word! Please contact for sponsorship opportunities.

You will not only be supporting the team in attending this event, but also be a part of growing Canadian youth sailing and opening the door for more young athletes in the future!
